Saturday evening we opened a new working year in the European Cartoon Center with two great cartoon exhibitions: Pavel Kuczynski and Pol Leurs.
It was great to see the contrast between the two cartoon styles of Pol and Pavel.
In spite of the bad weather a lot of people came to the opening ceremony. Cartoonists as STEF, Norbert Van Yperzeele, Alessandro Gatto, Cost, Kthaes, Cois Veldeman, Nikola Hendrickx, Ronald Van Ostayen and André Nollet were there to see the great work of their colleagues. And the well known French cartoonbook collector Jean-Marie Bertin came over for the exhibition of Pol. Pol did also bring his family (sister and sons)
For Pavels it was a special evening, because representatives of the cartoonale of Brugge and the cartoonale of Olen came to offer him the prizes he did win over there in November 2012 and two weeks ago.
For the first time a cartoon exhibition in the European Cartoon Center will stay permanently in the center: Pol Leurs, well known for his work about ‘doors’ did draw on the toilet doors of the ECC. So from now on a visit to the toilett in the ECC, will put a laugh on your face!
