It was a very busy cartoon weekend in Belgium. Besides the opening ceremony in Boechout we had a great exhibition organized by the Belgian cartonists organisation KEVER. They gathered works of affiliated cartoonists of KEVER, the Dutch organisation De Tulp and the Luxemburg organisation cartoonart.lu.
The place to be on a very sunny Saturday afternoon: ‘t Kristallijn in Mol. You could not imagine a more beautiful environment to show these cartoons with the theme ‘Kastrologie: laughing with food and drinks ‘… And with some Belgian chefs.
The works of Bob Vincke, Andre Nollet, Luc Vernimmen, Stefaan Provijn, Ben Peeters, Leon De Borger, Achille Hutsebaut, Philippe Bossens, Freddy d’Hoop, Emiel De Bolle, Pol Leurs, Vladmir Kazanevsky, Peter Nieuwendijk, Willem Henkes, Willem Rasing, Carlo Schneider, Ingo Schandeler, Fons Vos, Ernest Metz, jean-pierre Coppieters, Jean Gouders en Ronald Libin were exposed in a very large format and so the cartoons take automatically the place they deserve: as GREAT art in a gallery.
During the opening ceremony we could enjoy a wonderful performance of piano player Xavier and Soprano Mildred who did choose for a special repertoire with songs related to food.
Bob Vincke – president of FECO – thanked all participating cartoonists and all people who made this exhibition possible. And all were honored with a special ‘gastronomic’ trophee designed for the occasion by the exhibition coordinator Ben Peeters.
A pitty that such a great place as ‘t Kristallijn did forget to announce the exhibition on their website, after the hard work of Ben and the whole KEVER-team.
But you can go and see the exhibition till the 19th of October in ‘t Kristallijn – Blauwe Keidreef 3 – Mol.
Thanks to Pol Leurs, Philippe Bossens and Martine Bijl for some of the photos
